any idea why this is crashing?

Postby tester » Sun Apr 03, 2022 9:20 pm

Any idea why this bus setup is crashing, when turning the audio on? or how to fix it?
Green ops seem to be performed fine.

From what I see, it crashes in latest FS3x, but not in current FS4a.
Any idea, whether this whole group of issues with buses was handled in FS4?

I can confirm it crashes on my system on 3.06 with Direct Sound and Focusrite ASIO.

It doesn’t crash if I remove the Bus inputs which are connected together. According to tulamide this isn’t allowed or provided for (adding 2 buses together on one input). This makes sense and your schematic proves it!

tula is wrong about using buses that way.

1) as you can see it works in green.
2) it doesn't crash in FS4 alpha

I also remember in old days, when Trog explained what can be done with buses, and according to him, yes, buses can be used in a way I wired it, and they should automatically recognize, whether data nodes are compatible with each other or not. Attached case is simplistic one, because these are compatible data.

You build larger buses from smaller buses or redirect data between buses, and navigate buses via input names. Otherwise, buses wouldn't allow to connect with each other that way. I have pretty large distribution schematics, that work that way (wirelessly connected buses), just for green data (arrays of strings).

The only thing that can crash the buses (but not necessarily) is the change of quantity of inputs.
