The Quilcom GRESSOR: A granular processor effect

Postby Spogg » Sat Sep 15, 2018 4:16 pm

Hello playmates!

You may have guessed it already, but I just love granular audio!

Here’s my Quilcom GRESSOR, a toy to have a bit of fun with (I hope).

You can record a 2 second sound into it, use it on a live stream from your DAW or load in a short WAV file to play around with. I’ve included in the zip a selection of short sounds and some loops etc. to mess with directly.

Here’s a video of the thing in action:

And here you can get the fsm, plugin and some test sounds in one zip:

I hope you enjoy playtime with this, and all comments are appreciated.

Cheers

You're getting better and better at this! In the video I couldn't hear any clicks or other artifacts that were present in your granular synth! Time to re-visit it?

Thanks guys :D

Tulamide, you read my mind! You should be called Tulamind.

I hope eventually to make something more like the GRESSOR but as a MIDI instrument, with the emphasis again on simplicity.

I was inspired by the Collidoscope:

We shall see...

Hello again Spogg,

I have read that you can do time stretching with granulation also, you may wish to look at some algorithms for that also. Just an idea for another day down the road, good luck on all that you do!

Later then, BobF.....

Hi Bob

Yes you can do that with the GRESSOR.
You set a suitably high grain rate with a fairly short selection and the Scan LFO to Forward, and then the Scan rate LFO will time stretch/shrink based on the LFO speed.

I didn’t show it on the demo because I think 10 minutes is a reasonable limit before people get bored.

Cheers
