Problem with mix saturation

Postby StereoSpace » Thu Oct 10, 2019 12:47 pm

Hi guys!
I want to create something like separation-frequency saturation (example. Saturation in nectar 3 by iZotope)
But, there is a problem with mixing the processed signal in to the original. Any modules cause unnecessary sound distortion, especially at 50%
what am I doing wrong? :(
By the way, this applies only to saturation and distortion schemes.
When working with compressors and delay, there is no such problem.
Thanks for the help!

Maybe a phase thing again? About band splitting and recombination you might want to check out my tut at FS Guru.

BTW, clipping results in a rather harsh form of distortion. You might want to consider some smoother transfer function like tanh(x) or x/sqrt(1 + x*x).
