Your Privacy

The General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR for short, came into effect on 25th May 2018. It requires us to be clear about where we collect and how we deal with your personal data and to make sure you are clear about your rights in relation to that data.

If you have any concerns whatsoever about the handling of your data please do not hesitate to contact us at: support@dsprobotics.com

If you are unhappy with our response, you have concerns we fail to answer or you want to make a complaint please contact the Information Commissioner's Office: https://ico.org.uk

Where on our site do we collect personal data?

The only part of our site where we collect data is our support forums. These are completely optional to join and allow you to talk with other users, get help with problems or share project files.

The only exception is when you wish to buy a licence for our software. We then require you to register on our forums.

Why do I need to register to buy the software?

We need you to set up an account on our forums so that we can provide you with secure access to our download area. We also need to be able to track your upgrade cover so that you have access to the versions of the software that you have paid for.

What data do you collect?

1. Registration Details

Firstly, when you register, your account will at a bare minimum contain a uniquely identifiable name (your username), a personal password used for logging into your account and a valid e-mail address. We do not ask for any other personal information. In all cases, you have the option of what information in your account is publicly displayed.

Your password is ciphered (a one-way hash) so that it is secure. However, it is recommended that you do not reuse the same password across a number of different websites. Your password is the means of accessing your account so please guard it carefully and under no circumstance will anyone affiliated with DSP Robotics, phpBB or any other 3rd party, legitimately ask you for your password. Should you forget your password for your account, you can use the "I forgot my password" feature provided by the phpBB software. This process will ask you to submit your user name and your e-mail, then the phpBB software will generate a new password to reclaim your account.

2. Cookies

Whenever you log in the phpBB software behind our forums will create a number of cookies, which are small text files that are downloaded on to your computer's web browser temporary files. The first two cookies just contain a user identifier (user-id) and an anonymous session identifier (session-id), automatically assigned to you by the phpBB software. A third cookie will be created once you have browsed topics within the forums and is used to store which topics have been read, thereby improving your user experience.

What about payment processing?

All payment processing is done via PayPal. They are responsible for any collection or processing of your personal data.

The only information we hold after a transaction is notified to us as complete is a note against your account to say what level of upgrade support you have purchased.

How do we use your data

The data we collect is for the operation of our support forums.

We do ask on registration whether you would like to receive news from us. If you say yes then very occasionally we may send you emails with news and information relating to the software and accompanying products. The email address used will be the one held for your account on the forums.

The forum software may send you automated emails but these are only used to inform you when you receive private messages or when there are posts on topics that you are following.

That's it though. We do not process your data in any other way

Sharing with Third Parties

We may occasionaly use a third party to help with the sending of email communications. However, this is used purely for sending you emails from ourselves. We NEVER share your details with any other third parties for marketing or any other purpose.

How long do we keep your data?

We will keep your forum account data (your email address, username and password) until you ask us not to do so. We need to keep it so that you have continued access to the forums and the software download.

What control do I have over my data and how it is used?

For the most part you have full and immediate control and access to your data via the user control panel on our forums. From here you have the option to opt-in or opt-out of automatically generated e-mails from the phpBB software. You can also decide what information is publically visible and you can change any of your details as well.

If you elected to receive news from us and have changed your mind then this can also be done from the user control panel

Any non-automated emails we send will always contain a link to allow you to change your preference and unsubscribe.

If you want to delete your account completely then please contact us on support@dsprobotics.com and we will do that for you straight away.
