I asked Malc if I could host it free of charge and read only. He considered it, but in the end declined the offer.
My own opinion is that SM is no longer supported and that the push was to get enthusiasts to buy FlowStone.
But did you see this:

This links to my old post with a link to get the whole site as zips. I checked and the link still works. It’s a big download but also read my comments in the post about what I found with the contents.

Maybe if everyone who wants the SM forum back writes to Malc (I have already) he would change his mind… like a people's vote

I think the main reason was that he would have to pay for two domain names and maybe even webhost, so its costs more to maintain two forums.

Very good point Adam. But I did offer to host it for him at my expense. His concern was that they have email addresses linked to that domain.
