COM Port module bug

Postby arend » Wed Sep 21, 2011 11:56 am

Hello,
while testing the COM Port module I noticed that it does not open COM ports numerated bigger than 9.
No problems with COM 1-9; but the module not recognizes over 9. Any idea how to solve it or what is happening ?
tks

Not sure if this has been looked at yet. It's a known bug (nothing above 9). As far as I know, DSP Robotics says that it is a Windows issue. See this post here:

Not sure if they ever answered the question about com ports above 9 since then... Flowstone has had 6 revs since Oct 30, 2010, with 2 revs since the May reply to the Oct discussion.

I did verify that only up to 9 works. 10 or higher does not. I guess it must still be a Windows bug ;) Just go into Windows Control panel, Hardware, Device Manager, Ports, and select the port you are using. Right click, properties, port settings, advanced, and select a Com Port number 9 or lower not being used. Thats about the best that can be done right now as far as I know.

Thank you for your reply !
I don't believe in a Windows issue as other applications can open the same ports.
For personal tests and debug I don't see problems in changing the numeration manually, but, ask it to a final customer...

I have emailed support about this a while ago, and they are looking into it for the next version.
