SpyWhisper a FlowStone project at birth

Postby CodyOebel » Fri Sep 11, 2015 5:50 pm

************************************* SpyWhisper ******************************************

This project can also be tracked on mywebsite at http://oebelsoft.com/flowspy/
I own http://www.scabiesbgone.com http://www.scabieslotion.com and other product websites that I'd like to get away from since their causing me problems as I dont have a pharmaceutical license. So I want to make new stuff to sell = FlowStone is the way! I just bought and haven't yet started building http://www.SpyWhisper.com

I'm going to build a parabolic spy listening device and sell it on the site.
Using FlowStone I shall attempt to create an audio software to package designed for spying on whispers, voices or bird watching. (Higher Frequencies) I will then sell it on a website I'm going to build http://www.SpyWhisper.com .
This is part of my (Total noob 7 day FlowStone Trial self Challenge). Unfortunately I dont have money right now to buy the "Production Parts" listed in the Production Section below. Pictured is items I bought at a thrift store to build a simple parabolic dish. I bought a condenser mic for 3$ made for a video game, but it works on windows nicely. I then rummaged through junk dishes at the thrift store and found two thick plastic solid bowels for my reflectors. The flashlight will act as the microphone pole. I'll run the USB wire through the center of the flashlight
where the batteries go and out the back of the dish. Not pictured is a used camera stand I bought for 6$ that will be the tripod to hold this contraption. I'll later spray paint all of it black so everything is uniform in appearance. I am now on day 4 of my FlowStone 7 day trial. Instead of changing emails and running a virtual machine or something to get another 7 days of free trial. My self challenge is to accomplish as much as I can not knowing
anything about Synthmaker, Flowstone, and being totally new to it all. With very limited education (I have an associates degree in Electronics I got twelve years ago, and never used it ever and forgot nearly it all). I do however have some C\C++ programming and website design experience (Hobby level). I like selling products and dream bigger than my wallet can go lol. The idea is to manufacture a spy microphone for about 100$ that is packaged with custom
engineered software for higher frequency recordings and pitch isolation. I know very little about sound just enough to mess with audacity for example to clean up some audio recordings, but that's about it for me. I built some speaker boxes before and know a little about theillle and small parameters. That's my extent of
audio exposure.

PROTO-TYPE ITEMS
I have bought the website today, but haven't started building the website.
http://www.SpyWhisper.com
I got lucky with this Domain name in that no one else already owns it, because keyword search for Spying on Whispers is high. It will also bring my website to the top of search engines without having to dump allot of money on organic traffic and paid ad campaigns.

Cheaply bought proto items total cost about 9$ +12$ for the domain name http://www.SpyWhisper.com

****HELP ME please****

Ok I'm running into a problem. I cannot figure out through all the videos online how to do one simple thing.

I want a drop down item to choose from in which the user can select the audio input device (such as external mic, or built in laptop mic etc) .. then that input can be processed on to the output.

Also how can I stream the audio into a file to then save that audio file for later playback?

I am having the most difficult time finding video examples and walk-through's so maybe these questions I am having will be good for FlowStone to build a user-example database which will essentially make others who know nothing about synthmaker , or ever used it, or flowstone allot easier to use.

So again:

Click a drop down menu, select an audio input. That input get's sent to filters that are adjustable .. and then upon pressing a record button it saves the audio to a file. I have tried the various audio input dropdown modules but nothing gives me an item to select from audio input. I have downloaded all audio modules too. Please help direct me. Thanks ahead of time.

********************************* UPDATE **********************************

It appears I hit a bug with flowstone using ASIOSettings module with a trigger. I had tried this a number of times. It displayed the ASIO settings once .. I wasn't thinking of it tried it again and again and couldn't get it to work. It bugged out. I even rebooted my computer and again setup the module as pictured and the ASIOSettings gui still didn't display. So then I clicked on ASIOin module I clicked the wrench settings icon and the gui appeared. I went back to the toggle switch going into ASIOSettings click it, and voila.. the ASIOSettings gui appeared to select my input.
http://oebelsoft.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/AsioSelect.jpg

So to anyone absolutely new to FlowStone and learning I am on a windows 10 computer so it may just be me having issues. If you run into ASIOSettings select input feature not displaying then try what I stated above.

Geeze I spent litterally all day long trying to figure out how in the hell to make an audio input select appear .. and it was a minor bug or glitch. Now it's working fine !

********I'm absolutely falling in love with FlowStone. My wife is griping me up a storm spending too much time on here developing my audio synthesizer and bandpass filters as I watch various tutorials.

I fear my 4 days left over isn't going to be enough, because for the next two days (Saturday\Sunday) my wife is going to demand my time with our six children while we enjoy the weekend. I'm finding myself very frustrated with kids running about, and my wife giving me that **Look to get off the computer. 7 days is just not enough even for an un-employed individual rapidly learning by spending all day watching videos and reading manuals on modules. I wont give up yet, but lets see how far I get having but 2 days more of my 4day trial left to get something accomplished.

I worked on the website some more too. http://www.SpyWhisper.com
I catalog my 7 days as a total novice with flowstone on my website http://www.oebelsoft.com/
I have a hate and love relationship thus far wit FlowStone. Mostly my frustrations with lack of video content
and users providing current (None-Synthmaker video tutorials).
Ok mates... family is outside... got some cold beers, and food to cook. I'll get back at this when I free up from the family.

********UPDATE*******

Today I only have but 1 more day left in the trial. Essentially of the 7 days I only got 5 days due to weekends having wife\kids home left me to self-learning time with FlowStone. Of the 5 days I blew two days learning the interface and watching videos and following along. I Blew the third day spending way to much time reading Microsoft SDK's on HIB programming libraries to understand how to program and communicate using HID devices.. I paused my OCD(Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) knowing I was burning a day on HID and am making little progress to my personal 7 day Trial challenge.

Conclusion - While today and tomorrow are my last days to use FlowStone to make something. I have to state I can honestly say for a "Normal" human being who knows absolutely nothing about FlowStone ... 7 days is entirely not enough days for a trial period. I have gathered FlowStone's popularity is from it's "Synthmaker" audience \ customers.
However I myself, am a hobbyist not a musician. So when I found FlowStone I knew nothing about it, using it, ruby programming, or anything of the like. While not giving up .. I'm going to continue my efforts to complete SpyWhisper vFinal software, and my Spy Whisper v1.0a hardware spy microphone prototype.
Daily problems, chores, responsibilities for a person who is not employed, and has an entire day to be on a computer. My hinderance is being a good father\husband in that family time has stolen my FlowStone learning time. I'm disappointed my Trial is running out. It nearly de-motivates me to want to learn and put further efforts.

The Trial needs to be longer in consideration to someone who knows absolute 0 about FlowStone, ruby, or Synthmaker.

Ok I'm done complaining. I'll now work on trying to make a working sound filter and recording software to package with my product website www.SpyWhisper.com (I don't know actually how far I will take the website yet .. I'm so broke my clocks are rewinding backwards I'm so behind financially lolz).

Ok, here is an audio processing template. Nothing special, just some stock modules...

There seems to be a bug/glitch in the audio devices selection, it doesn't list direct sound audio inputs. Might be something that needs an improvement. It also affects the Windows menu on exported EXEs.

Why the "asio panel" primitive doesn't work for you, no idea. It works on my systems.

Yeah your probably right. I have major problems writing concise short to the point paragraphs. I'm always reiterating, and itterating again to ensure the point comes across. Your correct though about attention span. I need to program that into my mind when I write.

Hey thanks for this template. I'd like everyone to know I purchased FlowStone, I haven't yet activated my license. This whole week ahead of me and the past few days is having me very busy and much away from my computer. I have some educational book tracks to finish. Then I can sit, and focus back on this project. However to anyone reading. Without knowing anything about ruby, or flow-stone .. I was able to create 75% of a product website, product in a matter of 3 days .. I didn't have personal time in my life to get all 7 days dedicated to my flowstone projects. Soon though I'll have much free time I'm predicting. Life's got me taking some turns right now.

I couldnt help myself.. I broke free from my busy week and worked on the parabolic microphone. It's completed. It's a cheaply made parabolic mic, but I'm currently running some sound SPL test to see how efficient it is. UNfortunately unlike my past designs where I had money to toy around.. I have none this model.. so it will have wide variances in performance, but as long as I can get the software to some form of baseline for measuring.. I'll be happy.

UPDATE:

Good News:
The microphone appeared to be working fine; at first. I bought all pictured parts used in order to build a minimally efficient system on a low budget. Where-as my focus was going to get a measurable thresh hold of it's efficiency. The microphone yielded poor performance both in the dish and out of it. As pictured I off-set the microphone from the center, but keeping the mic at the focal point. I wanted to see the results of this. This first build was also a model proto-type in setup .. Things went well for the "build" , and I have a larger second dish and a more solid idea for the focal point as I went and bought some nuts and bolts ...

Bad News:

-The microphone pictured has an in-line component board filter.. I guess for the USB powering and amplification.
-The mic has measurable noise and ingress, but I cannot hear much difference by ear. I used another simpler mic .. it had very low noise. I ensured no mixxing or noise cancellation was being done by the OS, to cover test basis, and the other cheap desktop mic performed great and even greater when places in the center of an un-mounted parabolic dish. I'd use it, but it wont work for this project because it's new and the wife wont let me hack-it up into my project lol.
-The flash-light was too wide, and takes up much of the "in-bound" sound waves keeping them from "constructing\propagating".
-Bad microphone ... I'll need a different one.

***WORSE NEWS***
-The biggest problem I'm facing, is my wife called me to inform me breaks went bad on her while driving our 1993 Jeep I recently bought at an auction. The stress of getting the vehicle back home to address what went wrong, and not having the funds to address the problem. Now has my family operating on one vehicle until I can figure out what the problem is. Not a simple brake\drum issue.. I hear vaccum line \ air flowing when hitting the breaks.
The stress side tracked me of nearly all things. To combat this.. I began a home workout video called "insanity" to keep positive through this life struggle. I just moved to Colorado (USA) it's 8000ft above sea-level. After working out my energy to study died this whole week. I'm out of shape and high altitudes making it harder. So I learned, study first, workout next || brain(crash); lol . I follow a study track I made for myself to stay busy. from reading the Christian Bible (Yet I think kinda like an Atheist .. I'm studying the bible\book to understand what I dont know about it). I have some C programming books, and a windows server book I study. (I do this while looking for employment always progressing), but with only one vehicle and my wife being a nurse .. she's paying all the bills. I'm stuck home. I'm considering side-tracking a number of my other programming\technology books, and dedicating the time to Bible\Linux\ and FlowStone programming; I enjoy the time spent on flow-stone. It makes me feel smarter each day lol. This is my book-track .. I have OCD so I must follow a list or I'll be all over the place "Thinking stuck in my head thinking" and never getting anything actually done lol. http://oebelsoft.com/wp-content/uploads ... kTrack.png

So when life throws you curves or gets you down. .. just study flow-stone lol.
