Human Whistle Synthesis

Postby martinvicanek » Fri Dec 13, 2019 7:56 pm

Here is one that I did a while ago. You might think it must be quite simple to synthesize a whistle (that's what I thought , anyway) but the tricky thing is to make it sound human. It takes some fiddling with pitch envelopes and delayed vibrato, but in the end I think it worked out pretty well. Have fun!

I wrote a little tune to showcase the thing:

It's called "So what" and is about in the middle of the page.

Love it haha, can make some very realistic whistles! Maybe a little white noise can be added for the air blowing sound?

It’s really great fun to focus on simulating just one instrument or instrument type.
This is really nice and sounds very convincing.

As you were no doubt expecting, I just had to go and mess with it.

I added a switch to introduce some phase modulation to the (replaced) sinewave osc. I think it adds something by kinda adding a pitched component to the noise you might get from real air turbulence.

Cheers
