The Quilcom Informant: Explore formant synthesis

Postby Spogg » Fri Aug 04, 2017 4:46 pm

Hello!

The Quilcom Informant is an instrument allowing for the exploration of formant synthesis, shaping and sequencing. You can create new sounds using all the components of speech, sound box and tube resonance. You could, in theory, make it say rude stuff, but I doubt that would appeal.

You can watch a demo here:

https://youtu.be/LH8aR0NUwr8

The download includes the FSM, plugin, a user reference, 2 formant charts and background documents including information and the patent regarding the Yamaha FS1R’s formant method, which inspired this work.

Get it here:

I hope you become informed!

And of course I’d love to hear what you think…

Cheers

Hello gang,

I just want to stay Spogg did a fantastic job with this formant synthesizer. It is really very well put together and can create a huge number of very interesting playable voice like sounds and much more. Anyone interested in new synth sounds should download this and play with it. You can speed hours creating wonderfully cool sounds. A very delightful instrument for those that can play. Would REALLY like to hear someone make a composition with this one.

Thanks Spogg, far better than any synth I have created so far.

Cheers, BobF.....

I should have mentioned somewhere that you need to audition and program presets using the VSTi plugin for the best on-screen response to sequencer changes.

Well done, Spogg! :geek: I like the paranoid preset, sounds like aliens talking in some sci fi movie, haha! Amazing what you can do with grain synthesis.

That's a monster , spogg :o Great job. Sounds and looks great and goes damn deep
Since I love fast preset change, thought it would be nice to add a "on GUI preset switch", so used billv radio button set and now it's much fun to play with fast and easy preset switching. Hope you'll like it :)

Thanks for sharing and keep it coming 8-)

Hey that is fun!

And many thanks for the compliment.

I'll look into just how those buttons work. Nice idea!
