Thanks for that tester.

One of my difficulties is that I don’t have an actual gong of any sort.

It’s no good me buying a cheap 10 inch one to get the behaviour and sound of a 40 inch Paiste. So I have to rely on YouTube to hear how the sound changes without having the option to experiment myself.

One thing that surprised me is that the spectrum of a large Chau has a high frequency roll-off of about 46dB/Oct and this slope slides up as the bloom evolves. So that bit was easy. But the actual sound is so complex that an imitative synthesiser, with attendant CPU restrictions, will never be truly convincing. But I do think Martin’s filter system is worth pursuing.

An idea to test for wind gong "interia".

Noisy expression general: regular, spatial, continuous, "wet"
Noisy expression inside it: more pronounced at higher decibels, less spatial, not continuous (i.e. opening/closing the brightness like 5fps animation), "dry"
Need to take a break? I have something right for you.
Feel free to donate. Thank you for your contribution.
