Extensive Hardware Synth Demo

Fire up my softy and follow along as Marc Doty takes you on an extensive demo of the unique capabilities of the Yamaha CS-15. His effusive remarks on the actual tone of the oscillators and filters wont apply, but I think I've replicated all the functions pretty accurately, and it's the unusual architecture that's what makes it so interesting.

Before trying with my plugin what he's doing in the video, be sure you don't have the LFO going thru the mod wheel, by turning it off with the selector in the 'External' section (the CS-15 had no mod wheel; I've added that function to the plugin). Also, set both Pan controls to center, and the Mono/Poly selector to Mono.

Until I fill it out with more presets, I think his demo will lead you to some sounds you'll want to save as presets. He gets a little daffy at times, but I think it's worth sticking it out through all 11 (yes, 11!) parts of the video. :o He does a great job pointing out and demonstrating what makes this not just another ho-hum synth.

Recognize the knobs from long ago Synthmaker days? :)

Unlike my other plugs that are various mashups of the features and functions of the CS-15 and CS-30, this one pretty much sticks to a straight-up function emu of the CS-15. The only things borrowed from the CS-30 are the fact that it's stereo, and external controllers can be applied to the VCFs and VCAs (CS-30 had rear panel VCF and VCA input jacks).
