Cnc stepper motor controller.
Hi everyone.
Im an old Synthmaker junkie but these days Im building a cnc milling machine.
I was wondering if we can use flowtone to control stepper motors?
At the moment Im using Mach3 to control my machines 4 axis via usb from pc to stepper motor driver (smd) but I would love to be able to write my own applications that talks to the smd instead of mach3.
Any previous attempts and what hardware is needed in between pc and stepper motor driver. If any?

Re: Cnc stepper motor controller.
Hey!!
I rememebre u.
hmm,
I know a little bit about stepper motors.
There r 2 types yeah,
and one needs 2 signals, and one needs 3.
MyCo helped me to think about control,
but we were actually wiring the stepper, not talking to a PLC.
Here's the thread->
viewtopic.php?f=72&t=529&hilit=stepper+motor
I'm not great with control,
but I have my 1.8 degree stepper on a endless switch/rotary
Hope the schematic Maik drew up is interesting
Kind regards

Hi Nix. I remember you too
Unfortunatly the thread you started was a bit over my head.
I was hoping Flowstone already had some standard hardware and input/output modules ready to go.
Isnt that something Flowstone should have?
The program Im using for controlling my mill and other machines is Mach3 and it is a very potent program but way to potent for my needs.
Mach3 can run any machine with x n of axis. It can tun mills of many kinds, turning machines and probably anything else that is run by G-code.
I would like to make my own, smaller apps good at one or two things.
Custom for my needs.
Since I already know the old trusted Synthmaker it would have been brilliant if Flowstone had this.
Anyways.
I too have a bunch of stepper motors. My mill has 3 Nema23 motors and I have a bunch of smaller Nema17 that I wanted to test other ideas with.

I hope FS can be of some help mate.
If it's not yet- talk to Malc.
I can pm u his mail.
Otherwise one of our new members is an electrical engineer-
here he says hello->
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6418
Maybe u could drop him a pm.
He wishes to utilize G-Code too.
All success
