New advancement in dB meter technology
Hello all, here is a new method that will assist the individual wishing to make a meter for dB that is practical and works as it should,
It's simple, I realize; you get a mean average, but the high often visually is not high enough.
So, decide what your highest db is, and your base line, and also 0dBFS. Next scan to see if the signal is above these thresholds and select one of these numbers dependent on where the signal is. Next use the float db volume to decide the max volume, after employing one of these units to mean average with your signal. I would also include the max hold signal as well, to refresh every half second.
You see, this way, as long as you are enforcing max signal anyways; it will be accurate and the meter will rise fast enough without some crazy trick that's hard to instrument-ate. Never been done as far as I know and yet it makes making a reliable meter so simple. the meter by using mean doesn't raise to the height it needs to, it always falls short. You could use trog's slide stream code to smooth it by 20 ms too for best effect maybe.

Hi everyone; this is a great technological idea; but it really only has prudence when you're trying to make a meter with averaging; like say using baseline; highs and lows.
I'll provide an example in the next few days using this idea.
