MyCo more or less agree with what you say,
and in fact the best system for a small business is just to dedicate more time to develop than anything else,
but the system used by Cockos Incorporated appears to be more effective and productive,
it includes beta release for anyone,
a linear support,
low prices of licenses, related to the life of the Upgrade Version.

So a well-organized way of doing it makes everything easier for everyone.

P.S. where is the TRIAL version? This time I will decide whether or not to do the update.

Ditto to what MyCo said.

I'd also add...
We just got a whole load of 'mem' features for poly - those were added specifically because Exo requested them so that we could make better SYNTHS - they're no use for Robotics at all.
Those memory leaks - they make programs crash, and believe me, that is NOT a trivial thing to fix. It benefits all of us, whatever we make - and was noted and requested by forum users.

Considering what a tiny proportion of DSPr's market we are, us VST freaks probably get a lot more attention than we have any right to expect for the cost of a pint of beer a week! Schools are DSPr's bread-and-butter, it only does VST at all because Malc is an enthusiast himself, else it would have been dropped altogether by now.

Loads of people want to make music or edit audio and video - how many really want to make their own VST plugins? I know and have played with dozens of musicians and DJs over the years - I have never met another one yet who wanted to program plugins - they think I'm a freak because programming is 'engineering' and not 'artistic'.
I know more musicians who made their own guitar (i.e. one - and it was beautiful!)

I agree with you. Reaper is a DAW. Flowstone is a development tool.

You talk about the VST market,
I do not use at all the flowstone to make VST,
but for thousands of other applications that can make us not just robotics,
for example, I use it to create ad-hoc modules for Flight Simulators,
however, the MEMIN function is not only a facilitation
for AUDIO, but also to do complex math using SSE,
because the ruby will kill you with his GC.

Speaking of handling updates to an application in general,
in my humble opinion, the Cockos method can be adopted for each system development, and not only for the DAW.

I would like to remember: No chance of TRIAL? :)

Hi!
With your permission I would like to say a few words. On the download page, write like; "You can try the software for seven days". Not you think that these five days are ultra insufficient for someone who first time download this software?
I've said it once, but probably was not noticed. It does not matter....
But it matters very much both for customers and for the developers if this software would be free, -with some limitations-, but not with time limit. I am convinced that the company would not lose anything. On the contrary ... People would be able to learn more and to get familiar with this software. And also would greatly increase the popularity of this software, and developer.

Another problem is the lack of dialogue between developers and forum members. This is indeed a big problem, that leads to a state of uncertainty, of doubt, and finally of abandonment. With a normal dialogue and often enough, with more information, members of the forum, and others, would be more quiet and satisfied. But this could make moderators, which may be in direct contact with the developers.

I did not buy FS primarily because in my country the this amount is big for me. Maybe I'll buy it when it's a major upgrade.

Excuse me my English.
Cheers!

I think Carl Owen, Jorge Costa & Malcolm Barbour have done an amazing feit of engineering in such a short time.
I can only speculate that 109k revenue is a dismal amount to work from.
If you take that speculative number & divide by 3 that's 36k now divide that by years, not such a big number?
I found FS by accident, i love FS (or at least the concept).
I love it so much, that i am physically showing people how easy it is to use, I am also telling companies about it.
What part of the 109k is marketing? My guess would be 0 as that's what the budget allows.
I have seen many companies, with many great products, disappear in as many years.
The product is the company, How did the big name brands get so big you ask?
You say to a friend/neighbour/colleague "Hey have you tried x? , X is awesome isn't it?"
It is the consumer that markets the product!

I say to yee! For every one of yee that finds 3 new consumers tomorrow , this time next (a year), what was will not be (problems will get fixed sooner)!

totally agree, only the psychological effect that there is happening something would be great (daddy takes care of us :))...

but specially bugfixes should be made official asap, i just remember one thing between the last update, malc provided a vst.dll which fixed some memory leak luckely the forum member (i don't remember who it was) shared it in the forum, why not releasing a bugfix version 3.0401 for things like this? shouldn't this be the 150 bucks support.. instead of sending it to one forum member, not every customer is in the forum every day and the search engine maybe dont spit it out when you search for the issue.
