Major Plunder of the Vulcan Treasure Vault!

Parts of Blender 2, parts of RazorBlade, partly Prophet VS emulation, with plenty of Vicanek seasoning throughout, as usual -

Modulation options not as extensive as Blender 2, and doesn't include it's ability to load any wavs or wavetables from file; instead comes pre-loaded with the complete set of Prophet VS waves (thanks Mr. Pluemer) and all the SQ-80 waves (thanks to Spogg and tulamide's work for RazorBlade).

The wave blend created by the joystick can be saved as a new wavetable, and loaded into an oscillator.

Each of the four oscillators can be detuned against itself (in stereo, or pan-pot mono), for a huge sound.

Also utilizes RazorBlade's original multistage envelopes that Spogg developed for the 'prototype', but were eventually replaced with a bit simpler DAHDSRs. These can be switched to DAHDSRs, if desired.

The LFOs are my emulations of the odd-ball ones in the Oberheim OB-Mx, that show a strong influence from Don Buchla, who helped complete the OB's design.

Includes MVerb 7B, instead of an emulation of the VS's BBD chorus, since the thick stereo detuning rather obviates a chorus; plus this is a full stereo instrument - the VS had a pan-pot mono final out.

There's so much Vulcan toil represented here, that it proudly wears the 'Powered by Quilcom' label! :D
Also, many thanks again for all the work he and especially tula' put into gathering and converting the SQ-80 wav sounds!

NOTE: Upgraded to v1.04 on 8/2/20; fixed an issue with preset banks taking several minutes to load! Now a full 64-slot bank takes about ten seconds. Thanks to Spogg for his detective work on this. Also smoother wave-scrolling.

I like the two tone, but it needs chrome imo.

I had the pleasure and privilege of looking over the pre-release version of this, and it’s a real powerhouse.

I’m looking forward to hearing Manfred’s presets. Kevin and I have given him a lot of work of late, and he seems to love it, which is wonderful. :D

Well done again Mr Brown!

Cheers

Thanks, 'ears' - and especially for the ingenious automatable and recordable joystick system; remarkable piece of work. :o :D

This is not a negative, but a wish:

Why does such a versatile synth, with 4 oscillators of finest waveforms only come with one (sum?) filter? What possibilities it would add, having two, three or even one filter per oscillator! The mixing of oscillators would be a huge factor then, especially when modulated by the vector! (Imagine a low, dark growl slowly transforming in high bird-like chirps...)

True, true - but avoiding feature creep, a more crowded GUI and trying to stay true to most of the VS's limitations (I'm cherry-picking, of course). The main inspiration is the Prophet VS which had only a single Low Pass, but I did stretch this to a stereo Multimode.

EDIT: Damn you, now you got me thinking (your intention, I'm sure), if I just make the Filter switchable (like the envelopes), that will avoid a crowded look, and extra CPU hit, when the quad option isn't used.

:o :D

CPU goes up about 6% when in use.

Folder updated; I'd put the wrong schem in intially anyway - didn't have the reverb.

Thanks, tula' ! - no more ideas now, please!

Oh, that didn't go according to plan! I wanted to surprise with a little song using Vector.

But the plugin behaves very strange. Extreme dropouts (as if a hard gate would kick in 10 times per second) make it unusable. Note that this only applies to Vector, the DAW is running just fine, engine load is 4% rms and 6.8% max. The drum sampler that runs along also has no issues. Other synths running along also sound great. It's something within Vector and it doesn't have to do with overloading the CPU. It does however have to do with something general because it doesn't matter which preset I select.

Now I am sad. :(
