Good luck and a request from a long-time SynthMaker user

OutSim:

You're moving on without SynthMaker as a stand-alone product and with a pricing structure that is significantly different that what we SynthMaker users are used to. I sincerely hope you are successful.

Some of us SynthMaker users may come now, some later and some never. But can you please leave all our existing forum as is in some location that registered owners of the product, at least, can still access as part of the shared community that built up a flawed but usable conglomeration of work and reference?

What's in it for you? Well, you may have noticed not everyone from the SynthMaker community is dancing for joy that Flowstone is going to take on audio features that it has not had to date. Some may harbour some skepticism about your reliability as developers because development of audio features stalled for so long. When you prove to those of us of that view that we are wrong we'll be much more likely to come on board and start paying your subscription rate if we don't feel like you intentionally undermined us, as we sat back and waited, by removing some or all of the old forum. You'll also likely improve the odds of getting some of the same free tech support that has helped make SynthMaker more accessible to a wide variety of users if you haven't alienated the community that did it the first time around. You might even convince some on the fence to come over sooner in response to a bit of good will.

And as for it confusing your new Flowstone users with obsolete material... just make sure it's well labelled as 'SynthMaker Archives' -- maybe with a link explaining that it's a much loved precursor to your flagship product with a devoted following that you've been gracious enough to continue to support to a small degree by continuing to host the rambling musings of its devotees. Who could think less of you for that?

Edit - Too late, nevermind!

Oddson, I need to point something out..
I have a background in industrial automation, actually a strong background. A lot of the stuff that is in the SM forum directly relates to automation. So, the SM forum is a treasure trove for FS users too. Take something as simple as an oscillator, in industrial automation that can be used to map vertical movement of a stamping head for example. So, for them to remove years worth of coding examples that can be used in flowstone is just plain idiotic. They say that its not relevant. Ok so, oscillator code usedin SM cannot be used in flowstone? Of course it can...
They need to think long and hard about this for sure...

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

If they do a filter search for "trogluddite" posts made between the hours of 2am and 4am on Fridays and Saturdays, that should catch most of the ones I posted when I was REALLY drunk.
If they delete those, that ought to save them a few Terabytes of server space. ;)

Good post, oddson. :D
I hardly see how they can call us greedy for such a reasonable request - we earned at least that after all the support we offered for so long through that forum.
All schematics/modules I post are free for all to use - but a credit is always polite!

Some facts:
Synthmaker forum post count:
84435
Flowstone forum post count:
1441

Yes, Synthmaker IS a huge knowledge base with its thousands of tricky modules and GUI primitives, assembly-optimized modules, advanced GUI features and pretty much every piece of math ever created. Not to mention solutions and explanation of subtle technical issues, like Trigger order. Keeping this library would be tremedously useful also for current Flowstone owners.
Addictive synthesis.
