Saving values? Automation?

Postby moppen » Mon Oct 26, 2015 6:26 pm

How can I manage that the knobs get the last values before I closed the DAW (Samplitude) when I start the DAW again? The knobs of the plugins always have the same values at the beginning. In the preset manager AUTO is activated.
I would also like to know how automation of the plugin is possible. In other threats I have read that in the preset manager AUTO should be activated. So I built a simple plugin just using the stereo knob of flowstone between input and output but it didn't work, the values don´t save and I can´t choose automation parameters in my DAW.

you need to bring in a preset manager to store knob values

Hi moppen

This works for me in Reaper, assuming I save the Reaper project before closing. If I don't save it then the knob values aren't retained.

It could be an issue with your DAW. You could download Cockos' Reaper (it's free) and try it in there to see if it's your plugin or the DAW thats' not working as you want.

Cheers

Thank you for your answers!

I put in the Preset-Manager-Module (the black box for storing - It is confusing that there is another "Preset Manager" that you can call up with the "P" in each Module) and it works so far that that values are stored if the project is stored. The automation also works!

Now I have two new things, I'd like to solve:
1.: In the automation the names are counted like "envelope 1" - how can I give them names like "gain" ?
2.: the Preset Manager doesn't work in the vst, e.g. it don't show the file-dialog by mouseover as it does within the flowstone evironment. How can I handle this?

Hi again!

The little 'P' on a module means Properties. They can be any parameter the designer wanted, like background colour for example. If it's a control of some sort you will normally find a Property called Preset. This is where you name your knob. This name will then show up in automation (assuming that Automation is ticked, which it is generally by default).
Remember that every preset name must be unique in the project unless you name an individual module inside using a Preset Parameters module (you can find this lttle box in any of my schematics - very useful).

I think by "file-dialogue mouseover" you're referring to the tooltips help module and this is only used inside Flowstone and not in any exported exe or VST.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
