Yet another Flanger
Hello gang,
Here is a flanger of various ones I have submitted in the past, but now in a combo module and with some presets. Just play around with the presets for a while to get the feel of it . If you create your own presets use some caution, as the feedback knobs go to almost max and can either cause some load feedback from your speakers or even lock up your system. I found it best to disconnect audio output, create my preset and then reconnect audio out. If you do create some nice presets please do share them.
Also as they can not be created with presets various other effects can be created by using the direct inputs and outputs, via an amp/mixer. Just use your imagination and have some fun, patching in other effects and etc. One example could be filters for example. Again, please, if you come up with any cool ones, please post.
Also if you have any questions, have improvements, find any bugs, cool uses for it, or what ever, do please ask and or share them.
Oh, I almost forgot. Could some nice person (Spogg maybe) plese convert this to a dll for me. Many thanks in advance.
*** PLEASE anyone how about some feedback. Thank you kindly!
Ok, thats it. Have fun!
Later then, BobF.....

Re: Yet another Flanger
Just had a quick play and it seems to work well. I've not yet had chance to experiment properly.
I realise that DAWs have level controls and peak-hold meters but I always like this to be on the plugin too, so I can see directly what is clipping or if the level is too low.
I always like to see a clipper in the output path(s) too because my soundcard locks up if I overload it.
This is a really nice module and I've linked to the VST export below (it's just over the 2 meg limit for the forum).

Kepp 'em coming Bob!

Re: Yet another Flanger
Hello Spogg,
Thanks for the comments. Funny I did have a clipper on the output, but removed it because it distorted my sytems sound badly. Never had that happen on any of my other modules that had clippers on the output. Can't really explain it. Maybe in rev 2, I will add a limiter and/or level meter also. I like the idea, thanks for the suggestion. Let me know more after you spend some time with it. Also thanks for the VST, I will test it later.
Again thanks, BobF.....

Re: Yet another Flanger
Hello gang,
I could really use some help! I have Fl Studio so I can NOT make VST's (dll), but Spogg was kind enough to make me a vst of my "DFP Combo Flanger" , so I could use it with Audacity. The problem is it does NOT work, well kind of. Some effects (presets) sort of work, but most do not. The ones that do work also sound very different then when the flanger is used within Fl Studio/Flowstone.
The help I need is could some kind person with some time to spare and that uses the standalone version of Flowstone and who also uses Audacity maybe look into why my flanger is NOT working within it. Just down load the DFP Combo Flanger from above and create a vst youself for your testing. Remember Audacity does NOT use asio drivers. Many thanks if you decide to help.
If you have any other questions, please pm me.

Re: Yet another Flanger
Hi Bob
I've looked into the Audacity issue you have. I downloaded the latest version of Audacity and on my system your VST displays fine but just crashes Audacity when you press play on a loaded audio file. I tried out a few things but it always crashed.
I tested in Reaper and your plugin works well and I must say sounds good!
The issue might be that you have 4 inputs and 4 outputs and, since Audacity is an audio editor and not a DAW, it can't handle such a thing. On Reaper you can choose how the audio is routed into and out of the VST so a DAW can handle multiple routing options.
It might be a good idea to modify your schematic to have just 2 inputs and 2 ouputs and select on board what is heard.
Note also that I have sometimes had problems using selectors in a mono path when exported to VST(i). I prefer to use just level controls or stream multipliers for muting (1 or 0 to switch on/off) or selection of mono blue signal path.
Failing that I'd recommend contacting the Audacity team to see what they say.
Good luck!
Cheers

Re: Yet another Flanger
Something to watch for ...
I thought I remember reading that BEFORE exporting a schematic, to DISCONNECT the wires to the ASIO or DS modules.
This way the HOST can make its own IN/OUT assignment.
2nd ... from other VST plugin testing, some hosts can only use stereo IN/OUT. Harrison MIXBUS had this issue in earlier versions [not sure of current status].
Maybe one of the GURU's can confirm this.

Hello Spogg and RJHollins,
Thank you two for your tips, I think I have really found the problem with your help this time. I believe it's the extra inputs and outputs for the delay, frequency shift, and pitchshift that are causing the problems with in Audacity.
Spogg, ONLY if you have a spare moment (ha,ha) and do NOT mind could you test this out and send me a new dll if it works. VERY much appreciated!
This is really what feedback from others is all about. I really learned a lot with this one.
Thank you both again so much!

Hi Bob
I looked at the schematic in your first post and it's still showing 4 inputs and 4 outputs. Is this the one you wanted me export for you? Or did you not upload it here?
Cheers

Re: Yet another Flanger
Hello Gang,
Well I know when I need help and I do need some now!
This is Rev #2 of my DFP Combo Flanger s/p, now with SERIES and PARALLEL connection capability and also a VU meter, but I am having problems with it. When making presets for series connections, they are NOT saved. I have worked on this for several days now, but just can not find the problem. Also minor is sometimes the VU meter does not start.
With the added series connections this flanger has more than doubled the effects it can produce. For voice, synth's, and guitar some really great effects.
So if some kind Flowstoners could look it over and help me I would REALLY appreciate it. Also if when looking it over you see any other bugs/mistakes, or have any improvements, or other comments, PLEASE let me know.
As time permits me I am slowly writing a mini manual for this that I will post when all the bugs are gone. This can do so much, I find something new almost every day.
Well hope to hear from you all soon, and again thanks, BobF.....
