How do synced modules manage parameter values?

Thanks for helping with this guys.

Tulamide's new schematic exhibits the same wrong behaviour here.

I've made adjustments as requested and the file below shows the results with notes inside to record what I did.

Cheers

What I saw was that you changed the zoom setting.
Could you please retry with my fsm, but without touching the zoom settings (leaving it at 100%)?

OK tulamide. I did the same stuff but didn't touch the zoom settings at any point this time.
I previously only zoomed at the end just to give a better representation.
The file here is the adjusted one with no zoom settings touched at any point.
You'll see the top meter is now biased to the left and the Amount label is not right.

Cheers

Too bad. The zoom settings were my last hope. So now we have the following:

(1) You can sync modules, but trying to drag items in the view leads to inaccuracies.
(2) You are the only one that encounters it.

Either nobody works with 3.08.1 (I doubt that, I rather think they are just not helping), or you do something that we others don't. But I have no clue what this could be. All I thought about, turned out to be wrong.

EDIT: Do you know what's really sad? That this happens to you on the "We will spock you"-day  A german tv channel uses this label to send all Star Trek movies except the two from the reboot 24h today.

That made me laugh

Maybe I should get a new mouse. Yes, I'm sure it's the mouse. If I don't use the mouse it's ok.

It's not the mouse - it's you! You're simply too old :P I think I read somewhere that you're only allowed to use Flowstone as long as you're under 50 years old. Yep, it's your shaky hand!
No, the real reason is, we don't get enough help here. And I have an idea why. The people just see my name on the front page and think: "Oh no, tulamide again! His writing obsession is a real pain in the arse. I won't read it."

Which also means, I will now shut up and hope people will then come to the rescue!

Ouch! That excludes ME!

Spogg, your example does not show any inconsistenceis for me either. The middle module's "tape" label is off to begin with. If I ctrl-move it, all other "tape" labels move too, as expected. (Obviously can't fix it this way.)
If I delete the middle module, make a copy of one of the remainig (synced) modules, everything looks OK. If I sync the new copy with the rest and ctrl-move the tape label, all other labels move in sync at identical displacements. All good.

Well, at least with this schematic. I had similar GUI misalignment effects a few times in the past, nothing I could reproduce or make sense of, though. In one case I could not bring certain elements to the front.

In your Options/schematic settings, what is your Default Zoom Level? I left mine at 8 pixels per grid.

funny stuff ...

Anyway ... I'm running 3.04 here.

At first, I saw the same mis-alignment.

What I did:

I first moved the 'meter' to a spot that lined up with one of the vertical schematic markers. They moved as a group [expected], but they we out of alignment.

So ... I aligned so that all but the top meter was on the line.

I then UN-sync the first module. Using the CNTRL-arrow, I moved it to the same vertical line.

Then RE-Sync'd the top module.

NOW they all move in perfect sync and are ALIGNED as expected.

@Martin: The zoom default is 8 and I never changed this.

Here is a short and terrible screen capture I made which shows the steps that anyone can try. For the dragging I only used cntrl+drag. I zoom after the error is showing to better demonstrate the problem in a low resolution video environment.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/vy6wqfidp4q7r ... 0.mp4?dl=0

@tulmide: I'm guessing this is in fact due to my age. Beyond 50 the accumulative errors must get proportionately greater. So, at 62, I will get e=(62/50) x m where e is error and m is mouse scaling

If you guys can't reproduce this in versions earlier than 3.08.1 then I'm thinking a bug is to blame. It's not a major problem and I already did what RJ said in my real project. But it should work shouldn't it?

Cheers

The video helped me reproducing the issue!

Btw., if I ever need a narrator for a video or something, might I ask you? Very cool voice!

Back to topic: I think it is a bug, or at least an issue with Flowstone handling key presses. While watching your video I noticed at one point you released ctrl before releasing the mouse button. And indeed, if I do the following, I can reproduce the issue:
-press ctrl
-click on a not currently selected element
-move the mouse just a tiny bit (just so that the graphic either doesn't move or just by a pixel)
-release ctrl
-release mouse

At that point the sync'd module's graphic will jump be a greater degree than the original and even in a different direction sometimes!
