A Filterbox with an LFO
Hello Flowstoners,
here's a little Filterbox I assembled.
I was bored, played with Photoshop, and
ended up with some Braun-Type Gear.
I don't think they ever made anything
audio-related but radios, tape-machines
and stereo-systems.
I got some more knobs and switches, so if
anybody was interested, I could stick the
Photoshop-File (CS4) into Google Drive.
Now I'm not really sure how humorous Braun
would be with someone toying around with their
logo, so I ended up with a Brown Filterbox.
It doesn't really do much but has an LFO attached to
cut-off and a nice display
Regards
Phil

Re: A Filterbox with an LFO
It looks great Phil! You really have GUI talent!
Naturally I've had to go and spogg it. I just can't resist it, sorry.
I've put comments in to say what I've done to it.
Hope that's OK.
Cheers

Re: A Filterbox with an LFO
Hello Spogg,
cheers for investing your time in spogging my assembly. I'm always eager to learn.
We went to a huge indoor flea-market today and actually had the chance to look at some original seventies stereo-gear.
Whether it was Braun or Sony, Orange and Green was the way to go these old days.
If you'reinterested:
http://www.laboiteverte.fr/hommage-grap ... phisme-01/
is a nice slide show on old Braun Gear. No French needed.
What really amazed me was the fact that all of the products were still working, some being 40 years plus old.
Regards
Phil

Re: A Filterbox with an LFO
Hello Phil,
Very nice! Like Spogg said though I would add more lfo waveform options and maybe to make it a complete filter package add Comb and Formant filters. Great GUI.
Later then BobF.....

Hello all,
I expanded the module following Spogg's and Bob's suggestions. Further remarks are in a comment-box.
Have a nice evening / good day.

Phil
Edit!
Nicer set interface:

Re: A Filterbox with an LFO
Phil that’s excellent!
I especially love the formant filter. I even made the damn thing Yodel!
The only thing I noticed is there is no Speed label visible for the original speed knob.
Of course you could go on expanding it with more ideas, but don’t forget that all the knobs could be automated in a DAW. Sometimes less is more.
Will this be a stand-alone plugin at some point? In which case you could make a mono (blue) version and I think people would find it useful. You’d also need a preset manager in there, maybe hidden from the front panel, for automation signals.
Very well done Sir!
Cheers

Re: A Filterbox with an LFO
Hello you all, hello Spogg,
I reworked the entire project and again forgot to label the speed button in the left module. Shame on me.
I just fixed that.
All fun comes to an end and I guess I won't be adding anything else to this module. Well, may be I will.
Spogg, you are absolutely right in that you can automate those jobs in a DAW. I'm using mainly old Orion by
Synapse and you can't really do that much with the LFO options to drive parameters in that program.
So that Filterbox opens up some venues which I didn't have yet with my stuff: I used the added expansions to
produce some weird Tibetian singing. Probably no-one needs that, but hey, I had fun doing it
Regards
Phil
Update:
Further playing with the interface and re-designed test synth:

Re: A Filterbox with an LFO
Thank you for the thumbs-up Bob.
I usually don't get much done to share, as I still have to learn a lot - just to forget again when I'm back at work. Such is life, I guess.
Ya'll please find attached some buttons. I refined those from the re-styled synth linked to above.
I'm having great fun with Photoshop and Knobman these days.
Regards
Phil

Re: A Filterbox with an LFO
Totally off-topic, but hopefully just as funny for you. When reading this name in my mind it is always pronounced as "Filterlasso"
I have no clue what a Filterlasso could be in the DSP world, but I know for sure, I will never be able to get rid of this term
