Plugins made with flowstone and linux

Postby TrojakEW » Fri Mar 15, 2013 6:38 pm

Is there a way to use plugins made with flowstone on linux? I'm not linux user and I my experience with linux is almost nonexistent. I'm trying to get info for user that want to use use my plugin on Ubuntu Linux 12.04, Reaper 4.32, running under WINE 1.4.1. He says that reaper crash when it reach my plugin (Amplio).

Some additional info about plugins and DAW compatibility under Windows can be helpfull too. There is no way for me to test all programs that have VST support, since I doesn't own(use) all of them.

SM plugs would run ok on wine, I have not tested flowstone plugs. My guess is no because it will be looking for a path and a specific folder to copy its ruby dll into. I could be wrong though.. ?

Good question. Will it look for path for ruby if no ruby is used inside the plugin?

...and just probably tested. I'm almost certain, that inside my app, there is no ruby modules running, but when exe is started - ruby dll file appears in that folder. That ruby dll file is not removed when you close the app (at least exe).

Well don't forget all the knobs and everything else uses ruby. So even if you don't have a ruby component anywhere, there is still ones on the knobs.. Nevertheless, I think it copies the file whether Ruby is used or not.. I don't know that for sure, but thats just a guess..

I'm using old SM projects, and no knob nor slider is suited with ruby, nothing. I even prefer to use old SM modules right now.

So..
-Running FS plugins, does it create the ruby dll?
-Running EXE does it create the ruby dll?

I'd like to know the answer to that. It would be very helpful to me. If the answer is no then I may be able to use FS afterall..

As I said - in my projects - there are no ruby modules (just checked with statistics). But when exe app is started - it creates ruby dll in app data folder. Also when DAW is starting (and scaning for plugins - at least Reaper) - ruby dll is being created at that moment (so it's even before you load the plugin to your slot).
