Orion/FS Compatibility Issue

Postby billv » Fri Apr 26, 2013 1:12 am

Ok Nix. Let's go.

Version used 8.504 DEMO

Attempt 1:
Loaded two instances of test.dll( my last timer posted)
download/file.php?id=1415
No issues.
Then on top of this, I loaded 2 instances of the X11 as well. All ran with no issues.

To verify, i started new file, loaded in 2 instances of your plug "Entrancer", punched some
notes in both of them......no issues.

Ball is in your court mate :)
What do you want me to try next? :?

Thanks man!
Maybe it has something to do with my OS,
7-64bit
I'm crashing MUX running as VSTi in Orion too.
Here is the error->
MUX error.png
MUX error.png (9.01 KiB) Viewed 18608 times

I'll think about what to test.
Hmm,
wish I had the same result.
Here is the report from another Orion user->

That's confirmed. Playing both of those at the same time not only crashed Orion, but froze processes to the point I had to log off - not even Task Manager would bring up. Interestingly, playing just one of them (tried the first one) works fine.

So yeah, if I think of something to test, I'll let u know. Itried without SSE support today, with no difference.
RDSP found an error also, I don't know which OS they r running. Do you have a Win7 computer available?

Cheers good sir

EnergyXT also crashes on my system--edit eXT 2.6 goes down after 60 secs, like Orion. No crashlog

:o Ouch!......that pretty much knock me out of this thread. 64-Bit is alien to me.
nix wrote:wish I had the same result.

Is it feasible for you to come down to 32-Bit, and continue working effectivly????
( sometimes terrible compromise's are just necessary.)

Also, does this all mean that the issue is primarily a "64-Bit issue" first, and then secondly, a
Orion/FS Compatibility issue. ??

Need to clarify that.....it's my "chef's" brain......need all ingredients in separate containers by default.
Otherwise....cross-contamination....and then i don't know what's what.....

I'm not running the plugs bridged,
it's Orion 32-bit, on 64-bit OS.
I can't go back to 32 bit.
My system with 32-bit Vista was using 1.5 gig for the OS.
Now with 8gig of RAM, I have a little headroom.
So yeah, I'm keeping Win7,64 for now.
It's not just Orion also.
eXT is out,
MUX is out.
Trying Usine now.

64-bit is just more regular computing,
it just makes more RAM available.
No user adjustments are neccessary.

I don't know if it's a 64-bit issue,
or a Win7 issue.

It might be neither, and then it is the implementation of Ruby in a VST host.

I wonder, if they can wrap Ruby into each plug, instead of calling a single .dll,
will they fix my issue and the issue of unpacking.
I don't know, they haven't sent any news my way yet.

Cheers mate

edit- Usine standalone is out here too. Crashes after 45 sec
edit2- I'm sure it is very very tricky to wrap out .fsms into VSTs, I don't resent RDSP for my being stalled, but I do so hope they can fix the isssue.

That's what it sounds like....

In user guide, they mention that's the deal. Dosn't help you any, as you still have to wait.
Will be re-assurring when it happens- posts like this one are scary

Nah, Hollyhock isn't released,
I meant that 5.80.20b is crashing too,
when run standalone.

I'm thinking of getting Hollyhock though,
I have that full version 5.82.
What I am going to do is buy Kore2, if I can get it.
I sold it last year, so damn.
Anyway fingers crossed that works.

What other VSTi hosts that run as VSTi could I try people?
I'll get FL out, but I dislike the GUI for some reason.
It has a carppy name too.
If only Gol would call it Nuklear and make it skinnable I'd be back on the bandwagon-hehe
Anyway( ), I'll try the new version today, it was my first DAW, I still have it.

Just saw this, it made me laff, I'm not beliittling FL,
I just don't know if it's cool--ha->

Fruityloops redirection - Image-Line
http://www.image-line.com/fruityloopsredirection.html
http://www.fruityloops.com / http://www.fruityloops.org / http://www.fruityloops.net ... are no longer valid. Due to a trademark settlement between IMAGE LINE bvba and KELLOGG ...

Off to try the new version 8D

edit-OMG Fruity is buggy or I have a virus. I used 5gig of RAM in 5 seconds trying to close it..hmm

Here is what Mutools said about the error->

Unfortunately i can't help in analysing/debugging Ruby code. I have too much work myself too. But maybe as a helpful hint i can tell you that that MUX alert ("Internal thread loop time out") most probably comes because the audio processing thread is blocked in some way, which may also be the reason why Orion crashes when you use the Ruby plug directly in Orion.

end

I'm going to use FL, if I can prolly, we'll see

FL crashes also,
when using compiled FL plugs,
or VSTis.
Haven't tried 2 flowstone channels yet,
but I don't really want to open the editor more than once.
hmm
Also scroll lock keeps coming on.
I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my system.
