The Quilcom MIDIMUS: Creative use for a mouse...

Postby Spogg » Thu May 09, 2019 8:14 am

Hello playmates!

Following on from publishing my Quilcom TERRORMIN I had suggestions about making the mouse-control part into a MIDI controller, so it could be used with any synth plugin. I was inspired to do this by kortezzzz’s touching story. Here is the topic:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16587#p51851

The expertise and generosity of trogluddite, with his Ruby skills, made it possible, so I thank him very much.

I made a video to show it working with one of my older synths:

The download includes the fsm, plugin dll (it’s an “effect”) and also the User guide, which is worth reading to get the best out of it.

I hope you have a bit of fun with it!

spog! :o :o :o

Wow,wow, wOW I am shocked from the results :shock: You made something that is far beyond just "controlling" and moreover, the schematic of this is nothing but an open school for FS's midi basics. This is piece of art, truely. Giving it for free is huge gift to world and I hope your users will appreciate it. Million thanks for this and GRANDE thanks to our friend trog that opened a door to this non-yet-explored area of FS's midi abilities.

Cheers! :D

Hey thanks guys! :D

I wasn’t too optimistic about doing this at first, but thanks to you kortezzzz, and trog’s brilliant offering, I decided to have a go. I quickly got very enthusiastic once I started to hear what could be done.

Cheers

Very nice. Ruby Too? Seems to Me that might be ideal for equalizers.

Next week I'm gonna visit my friend and let him try this. I'll ask his permission to make a short video of him playing, and if he agrees, I'll show it to you. Anyway, I already showed him your video and it made him very happy. However, I'll also check what the x,y controllers market has to offer those days. It would be much practical, since the touch pads are quite small and not very comfortable.

This is great Spogg - and such a quick "product turnaround"!

It's a great example of the forums working at their best. An idea inspired by one member, a dash of low-level modules from another, and someone to put those together to come up with a practical design. And coincidentally enough, I have a Wacom tablet gathering dust somewhere - I think I might just have to fish it out! :D
All schematics/modules I post are free for all to use - but a credit is always polite!
Don't stagnate, mutate to create!

@kortezzzz
I would love to see him using it, but the last thing I want is for you or him to feel any pressure to do it. I hope that he has some fun with it at least.

@trogluddite

Thank you trog!
A lot of people here don’t have as much time as me to spend with FlowStone. So that, and my improving fluency with the app, means I am able to create stuff in a shorter time than might be expected.
Sue and I are both retired. Her passion is reading and she spends hours doing it most days. This means I get time to feed my passion without guilt or time pressure. I consider myself extremely lucky!

@all
I had the idea of trying the MIDIMUS out on a cheap 10 inch Windows 10 tablet I have. In tablet mode it might be possible to use the touch screen to play. ..

Cheers
