Hello,

I'm kinda new to flowstone so I hope questions below aren't answered already. I searched for other threads, but couldn't find any, nor could I find anything in the manual or components guide.

I am using the flowstone version that comes with FL Studio.

Question #1: Can I integrate a meter into an effect? If yes, how?
(I tried to just connect the output of the "Audio In" component, but the meter doesn't do anything.)


Question #2: How do I create a pitch control effect know?

I have tried to use the detuner but somehow that doesn't work when I put it after the audio in component. The audio gets a bit louder when i do pitch+ and volume goes down when I do pitch-.

Can someone tell me where to put it and what needs to be added? Or what needs to be adjusted with the detuner?

I have tried using the detuner in a generator and there it works. But there I can put it linked to the inputs of the soundsource. When using it as an effect, I don't know how to do it that way.

Or if there's a different way of doing it, that would be good too.

hi, welcome to the forum,

i`m not using FL so i dont know how ins and outs look like, but when you can hear something also the meters should work just attach them to your audiostreams - if you use the vintage meter you have to turn it on to work.

about pitch control for audiosignals, it is a little more complex, you need a pitch shifter for that - tha detune module for tuning the input frequency for an oscillator and not to tune an audiosignal thats why it just gets louder or less loud ...

can you open normal fsm? you can have a look in SM forum there is a lot of information about pitchshifting...

Thanks for the quick reply :)

I Managed to get the meters working. Don't know why the normal ones didn't do anything earlier, but they work now.
And I managed to figure out how to turn on the vintage one (Was looking for an on/off button all the time and didn't know I had to attach it myself lol)

Also thanks for the SM forums tip. I have found some stuff there and will read through it.

Just one question: I also found an osm file on this thread:

But when I load it, I get the message "Schematic load: Type not found" x3, After that I get "Could not create link inside module bitmap. Please report to the software support team". And FL Studio/Flowstone crashes.

Is that because it's such an old osm? Other osm's work fine when loading.
Is it possible for anyone to update the osm if it works for them and upload it?

Hi there, welcome to the forum.

Indeed, that schematic dates to the very early days SynthMaker. I managed to get it open in my old copy of SM, and discovered some parts in there so old that I've never seen them before!
However, I love messing with pitch-shifters, and fancied a look inside - so after replacing a few components, managed to get something that will load into FS, and seems to work as intended. Here's the schematic as a FS file...

...it's a very low-fi, "clangy" kind of a pitch shift - but quite a charming little sound in its own right!

PS) If you're checking out the SM pitch shift, seek out the stuff by martinvicanek - he's amazing with the complex DSP maths, and his pitch corrector and phase vocoder modules are probably the best shifters that SM has to offer.

Thanks for the effort!
I had a quick look into the file and it looks useful so far.

I did have to replace the "midi in" with an "audio in", though, since I couldn't get a sound otherwise (might have something to do with the fact that your file was made with a newer version of flowstone, according to a message that I had when opening). But it worked now. Many thanks.

And I will have a look into martinvicanek's stuff this weekend if I can free some time. Thanks for the tip.

Just been having some fun playing my bass through it - I'm kinda fond of those "vintage" digital glitchy sounds! ;)

That's quite a common thing to see with SM/FS schematics - a lot of FlowStone users have the stand-alone version, so we don't have all our nice sounds close to hand. So a lot of people put a little MIDI synth or "test tone" module in the schematic to make testing the code easier - saves us having to export a VST plugin every time we want to check out the sound. I guess using the FL version makes that kind of thing a lot easier!

The "newer version" message is also because I use the stand-alone version of FS - we got an upgrade just a few weeks ago. The next time FL gets upgraded, you'll probably get the latest FlowStone version too. The biggest update was to improve VST plugin exports - so you're not missing out on very much. You might just find that one or two of the latest forum modules won't load properly because of some new Ruby features - but most of them will be OK.

Actually - I couldn't load into 3.02 a schematic made in 3.03. A lot lot of errors, not only the message on never version. I guess it has to do with an update of something ("changed" prim did so?). There could be something done to make modules semicompatible with older versions (like auto removing inexisting nodes similar to how the code/asm behaves and so on).
