Roadmap for VST Support?

Postby steortbo » Wed Oct 02, 2013 9:42 am

Hello,

before i invest in Flowstone a few questions about the future.
My main purpose would be the development of VST Instruments and effects.
The questions:
1.) VST development is in a process of change as Steinberg has finished the development of VST 2.4 and will now force VST 3. What are the plans of Flowstone here and is there already a timeline for this?
2.) Will Apples OS X be supported for VST or AU development?
3.) What is the roadmap in general for features releated to music instruments and effect development?

Hi there, and welcome to the forum.

Those are all things that everyone here would love to see - however, it's always been the developer's policy never to tell anything about their future plans, or what new features they're working on. So, unfortunately, none of us know any better than you do.
Mac support, I certainly wouldn't expect any time soon - FS relies on the GDI+ engine inside Windoze for drawing all of its graphics, so it would need a big change to support something like OpenGL in order to make it cross-platform.
All schematics/modules I post are free for all to use - but a credit is always polite!

64bit must be in the roadmap.

I said "must" and not "should" because devs declared it when there was the cross from synthmaker. If they don't, just they are not trusthwhorth.

and what about the rest? how is a FS product compiled ? which parts are tied to windows, is it just the graphics part (yellow) or does it include the trigger part too (green+ yellow), and the stream part is an own part - is it also tied to windows ?

just asking myself if it would be possible to work out all graphics stuff just with ruby using open gl or sdl library ? how big would this step be?

And one of the thing may be, is flowstone programmed in VB?

Because if yes, they should move to other languages. So totally rewrite it.
