That's exactly what I mean.. ..make a small 'test rig' of some sort and upload,
with a special appeal to vista,7,8 users...I'm on XP and can't help here..but others could...

Billv ... I just let Trog THINK that I'm able to follow him !!!
He is very sensitive you know
Honestly, I've been 'left in the dust' from several of you guys !
anyway ... back to this serious issue.
I've been trying to think of a test to do ... it would seem it must be a VST as the stand alone seem to slip by [for whatever reason I can't understand] ... the GOOD thing is, this MAY support the notion that my coding is not the cause [I do reserve the right to be proven wrong]
As to a test ... for one, I've not heard back the status of the Preset manager writing/reading. If that thing works without issue ... then something else is not right
Drnkn just posted that he is finding 'permissions' both the cause and the solution. This definately helps define things.
My real hope ... the safe-haven to write/read a txt file. Since we are both
XP ... there's not much to test. Somebody with a newer system must have something going ??? otherwise, wouldn't we hear something !!
OK .. a test module ... I'll try to think of something that would alert the problem ... but I'm not sure how to make it so that we can easily test for a solution
Can the SYSFolder [ENV variable] be modified in real time ?? I don't know That about the only PRIM I know of that could be used.
The RUBY stuff I posted where stuff from other DEVs ... I yield to the experts here on that.

Right so here is a test module, VERY basic but should give us an idea if it works on all our systems.
Im on Win7 32bit BOOTCAMP & I have no probs. Writes & reads the file.
I tested on my win8 64bit laptop & also no problems.....anyone else wanna try?

It will work but add an afterload trigger to ensure that the path is updated.

I'll be testing too ..and send out to my tester.
One thing ...
the VST format needs verification too !
I have found the EXE to work, but VST fail [with my current project] on Win7/8. yet work on XP.
VST may have external conditions [host] that could cause problems. So testing both formats is vital.
